I'm noticing that hardly anyone is mentioning a single coil bridge on its own which to me justifies having a humbucker bridge pickup in a Stratocaster no matter how untraditional it is. Isn't it better to have a tool that works for you? It's a shame to waste that pickup position when a humbucker bridge is extremely useful and absolutely great sounding in a Strat, at least for me. It may or may not mess up position 2 depending on your wiring but that is my least favorite anyway.

You should have known better than to put it like that. Lol. I like all three pickups with the middle one out of phase, middle and bridge out of phase, neck only, and bridge only. All the rest are cool too.

electroswitch still make them. as do most russian vintage surplus places (bakelite ones for panels) and you can also find 4/6 position varitone types etc. but mouser, element14(farnell) RS, Digi, Octopart etc. the stuffs in abundance. out of luck with a vintage spec, then stealbay.
    Lorlin, grayhill etc.
    stuffs not hard to find.

I’m kinda old fashioned so I gotta say missionary. In fact I have a Mission expression pedal on my KPA (Kemper Profiling Amp) while playing my 04 Strat (Big Red), in positions 2 or 4.

5 90% of the time. But 2 lately has grabbed my attention and I’m really digging it.

Your thread title provoked a bunch of predictable juvenile posts, like 13 year old locker room mentality stuff. You must be proud.

Locker room stuff aside my strats are all SSS configs, if I want humbucker tone I'll pull out something else. Normally I'm on Position 3, middle with the tone and volume dialed back just a bit. Mainly so I can brighten it if need be without touching the amp. I like the balance the middle gives me and I can take it in either direction without too much drama. I use the quacky #2 position for the fast rockabilly stuff sometimes, it's bright and adds texture to songs that delay would just turn into mush.

As soon as I pick up my strat my fingers go to box 1 and the 12th, I gotta break that habit:)

I wire mine for neck and bridge and use that 90% of the time. But then I'm more of a Tele guy anyway...

    Hi, @Stratafied -Buddy

I really like a nice Alnico 5 neck pickup sound on Strat.
Sometimes the 2 and 4 if want quack.

I used to be a quack fanatic. Still like it but nowadays I'm more likely to be on 1 or 5. Hard to pick a favourite between those two but probably 5 by a nose. No way I'm putting a bucker in 1 though, love that sound, love the way it slices through. Although I do like it best with the tone rolled off to about 7.

I supose that it depends on pickup config.
I have 2 very different american strats.
For classic SSS, 2 and 4 for cleans, 1 and 5 for overdriven sounds.
For the HSH, I love 1 and 5 for both cleal and dirty. The inner coil tap + middle noiseless for 2 and 4 are ok for clean.

4 and neck get the most use. Followed by bridge>2>middle (used the least)

I play bridge most, followed by neck, with about two songs in position 4. If it weren't for those two songs, you could clip the wires on my middle pickup and I'd never know.

Me too, for some reason all the sudden I’ve found an appreciation for #4.
