What are all the things you consider when purchasing an amplifier ?

I’m in no hurry for a new or used amplifier. But I’m always looking, one of the amps I’d consider is the Vox ac10. I came across a tech , allegedly on YouTube who rips the ac10 a new one. It’s just amazing at the varying opinions on certain gear. I will say I’m being mindful of longevity and reliability. And the ability to change blown tubes without dismantling the entire amp.

The AC10 is on my list to try, i have seen enough positive reviews to not bother about bad ones, i really haven't seen an amp that is too hard to change tubes though??
I watched a few videos on the Ac10. And the Supro delta king another amp I’m considering. On the Supro you have to pull the chassis to change tubes. On the ac10 , some don’t care for the stock speaker, but swapping it out leaves few choices due to how narrow the cabinet is.

I gotta say, I was inches from vuying a Monoprice 15 only a month ago.
Prob woulda liked it well enough.
Pay too much and it better be amazing, which few consumer amps seem to be any more.
Course I came up when todays holy grail amps were plentiful and $300.

- Is it different from anything i already own (power, size,
type, and number of speakers, looks (yes, it's a bit superficial,
but looking good onstage extends to your kit also imo).
- Will it do something that things i already own won't do, or do as well?
- Do i actually need something that does that thing exactly, or can i get
close enough to cover it in the real world without excessive effort using
something that i already have?
- Is it small/light enough for me to handle on my own?
- Quality/durability/ruggedness
- Assuming i do want it, can i afford it?

i've usually managed to talk myself out of most amp purchases by
using that as a checklist, and almost always way before i get to the
'can i afford it?' bit, LOL.

I have the Monoprice 5 watt as one of my amps, gotta say it’s a great amp for the $

I ask myself similar questions when wanting another amp, and sadly the questions list pretty much makes it impossible to move forward with a purchase...

Much is because I have more amps than money.

The future may change things though!

Tom, unless you're gigging 5 days a week tubes will last a long time.

The AC10 is a nice amp, pulling the chassis and swapping tubes is really easy.

Delta King, no brainer.

Either amp will be a really good choice.
