Been listening to Merle Haggard a lot lately, Good way to hear how a telecaster is supposed to sound. Try "Sing ne back home".

You and I must be in the same age bracket. I'm 50, and first heard that song when I snuck my mom's K-tel albums.

    The Iceman:

    That's simply how it's done.

Oh and here's a little game. Pause it at 3:59, and study that strat's pickguard. Don't bother with how it looks, count the screw holes and screws. There's something missing. The answer is hidden below

The pickguard only has 10 screw holes and 10 screws. It's one of the very few Fenders you can identify the year just by looking at it, for a short period of time in 1958, the pickguards had 10 screw holes instead of 8 or 11

I don't know why I avoided Albert Collins for so long, he was so incredible!

He often went into the crowd, sometimes he'd go right out the front door playing, and I read that once while playing at Antone's (a club in Austin), he walked out side playing a solo, and came back a couple minutes later, still playing. A little while later, a pizza man came into the club with a pizza. He actually ordered a pizza while playing a solo!
