    Hello,

I am new to this community. Hoping someone can help me out. I traded for this used Strat at a music store in Tampa, FL in '89 or '90. Would appreciate some expert advice with respect to the color of the body as well as date of manufacture. Serial number, "Made in U.S.A" and dual string trees are confusing me.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Around a 1987 American made Strat. Not sure about anything else. The number of string trees is irrelevant to what the guitar is. Anyone can add or remove them so it shouldn't be used to determine what you have, IMHO.

The serial number alone indicates an American Stratocaster made between 1984 and 1988.

The finish was called, believe it or not, White, but popularly now called Vintage White.

It's an early American Standard in Vintage White, which has aged to yuck yellow, as they did.

Love your guitar. I love the yellowed color. My 2012 Olympic White Stratocaster is already beginning to turn cream color. Hopefully it will turn more yellow someday soon.

Being that I’m from Tampa Bay, I am very curious about the music store where you bought your guitar back in ‘89 or ‘’90?

Perhaps Tampa’s now gone Thoroughbred Music or Paragon Music?

That is pretty funny. I never would have guessed Vintage White. It was this yellow color when I picked it up. It was probably only a couple of years old at that point. Huh. Thanks!

Vintage White. Here's a photo of a former band mate playing his '62 Reissue Strat which is also Vintage White.

I made many, MANY purchases from Thoroughbred Music on Hillsborough Ave. Not so many from Paragon. However, this purchase was made at a small shop called Green Shift. I was stoked to stumble across this guitar.

I bought my first Marshall amp at Thoroughbred on Nebraska, before they moved to the Hillsborough store.

Small world. You have a very cool guitar and welcome to the forum.

Yep... that's an early Corona American Standard.
Formally introduced in '87, but they started making them in mid-86.
The E4 serial number could have appeared as late as 1988, and given that you got it used in '89 or '90, that fits.

Thank you. And yes, the serial number is kind of confusing based upon the research I've done. Regardless, late '80s works for me. She and I have played a lot of that music genre over the years.
