Avoid the cheap ebay knock offs just to save a few bucks. I've used either Fender or Allparts and never had one single issue ever. Just my opinion.

I hate plastic so I would hunt down a gold anodized one.

Only pickguard colors I've ever liked on strats are white (or some variant, such as cream or mint) or a good red tort.

Everything else looks like crap to me. Not sure why.

The problem I find with Fenders black guard is that it scratch so easy! Even when I buff it with a micro fiver cloth it still puts swirls in it!! It Annoys the crap out of me. I wonder what a gold guard would look like?

I'm surprised at how many ppl like a mint green guard! I doubt green and aged cherry burst would look good! But I've been wrong before! Someone post a pic off a mint green guard if they can. I'd love to see one on a strat.

I would only suggest pickguardian for any replacement pickguard materials. He's the most "authentic" material and does the celluloid nitrate tortise as well - but it all costs $$$.

the ES355 5ply-bound tortise pickguard is over $200. just so you know - if you really want that level of perfection.

It all depends on the Strat. The factory usually knows on what they look best on. ;)

    Here's one on a 3T Burst:

... and another on an Inca Silver:

Both of these are factory stock. :)

Mint goes with everything so long as you get a 'green' shade that tones with the body and board...

With that said of the current options black wins hands down as it brings out the body best. You just need to tone down the distracting covers and knobs by going aged white, cream maybe or even mint with the black.

And definitely not the grey one.

    Tortoise would work well too.
