I turned 50 last week, and my mom got me a five year membership to AARP.
Why aren't you playing professional basketball ??!!! You must be 11-feet tall !!!
I'm with the "year older" crowd. I got everything I need and there are always more important financial things my family needs the last few years. My one thing I look forward to is a hand-made card from my son. Growing up, I used to make my mom hand-made cards, but always felt bad because I couldn't afford to buy her a real store-bought card. So as I got older, I was so proud to buy her real cards. But she always told me she like the hand-made ones better. I thought she was just trying to be nice because of all the years I had to make her one.
Turns out she was telling the truth !! I so appreciate a hand-made card. Just requires some thought and at least a little bit of effort. So, I now give my wife only hand-made cards for our anniversary or her birthday.
Back in July for my birthday I got a Scotty Cameron Putter and a Les Paul.
I got a card from my wife, a call from my son, and about 20 pieces of mail about Medicare Advantage plans.
I turn 50 in January. What am I in for? What SHOULD I buy for myself?
I have always tried to live each day exactly as I want to so that birthdays become meaningless. If you are doing what you want to do with your life then adding another ring to the tree doesn't really mean all that much. It is only when you feel like you aren't doing what you want that you watch the years slip away and always dream that tomorrow may be different.
Easier said than done I know and there have been MANY times I was not doing EXACTLY what I wanted and plenty more where I was only close.
I got a hyper extended middle finger and on the day I was going to pick up one of my strats after a pro set up. Its the gift that keeps on giving. 9 months later and it still is giving me trouble.
I love my wife. She is the best thing that ever happened to me. I turned 50 this year and she cooked this up all on her lonesome and let me choose what I wanted, it came down to one of these or an ES-339, the PRS won. (The Sweetwater thing was a first for me, very happy with the results).
Sounds like a repetitive motion injury, probably while signaling in traffic in KCMO.
I got a Mesa Stilleto deuce, my daughter tried to pay for it, but I only let her chip in a couple of hundred bucks.
She always goes overboard when it comes to gift giving time.....
Welcome to the club. I treated myself to an early 50th present this summer and got me a '50s Baja Tele. Took some of the sting off for sure.
Next year: 60! My how time flies. I plan to have a party of some kind. I should start thinking now about how to treat myself. Probably will be amp related.
I have this with maple. Although it wasn’t a birthday present
Just what I asked for, yay!
Thinking about a transparent red mod-shop right now. It will only take 30 days to get here. My birthday isn't until January but I can allow a 30 day window.
I felt I was due for a little self spoiling! I rarely treat myself to things. Usually save treats for the wife and kids.
A .strandberg* Boden Metal 8... and a new puppy!
That is one cute puppy! The guitar looks good too but the pup...
