Ditto. No pineapple, no fish... maybe shrimp or shredded lobster.

Half of what we think of as Pizza isn't.
Half of what we think should be Pizza isn't.
But everyone has their idea of what it should be.
It's funny to read Yelp reviews where people rate Chicago Pizza places and say "That's not Pizza, it's a casserole!"

Maybe it is, but it's closer to "real" than the cardboard crap most Americans grew up with in the 60s.

OK Americans (and likely some others as well), get ready to have your mind blown (LOL).
Our classic pizza centers around Pepperoni, but pepperoni is not Italian and from what I can see, doesn't exist outside the United States. Sure you can get salami in Italy (or Greece, or Turkey etc.), but not pepperoni. That being said, I did find pepperoni in Albania of all places, but I've never seen it in Italy.
Try to find some, or better yet ask an Italian what pepperoni is. Most will assume you said peperoncini (an actual pepper).

Has this important issue plagued anyone else? Maybe someone else found something I didn't???

I'm sure they ignore it as much as Singaporeans ignore the presence of so-called "Singapore Noodles".

My brother ran a fry bar in Scotland and deep fried pizza was the biggest seller

It is, but there’s no tomato or mozzarella on it. It’s “pizza bianca” with nutella…

I wasn't really impressed with the pizza we have had when in Italy: in Pisa, Florence , Rome, or Rimini. Our American pizza is much more diverse, particularly in Brooklyn, Chicago and our other "pizza mecca's" in the USA. We American's tend to "appropriate and improve upon" when it cames to foreign foods.

FWIW, My family was in Italy recently for ten days, including Naples, and they didn't think the pizza was any better than what we have here...

I dont care what they think.

If they have a problem with this. Then I have a problem with their mothers sauce. Its too bland.

Dairy Queen at least used to make a "Treatzza Pizza", which was a flat ice cream treat with various toppings.

Similarly, what do Koreans and Mexicans think about Korean-Mexican fusion cuisine? Or what do Mexicans and Americans think about Tex-Mex cuisine?
What about this Mexican Fish Taco stand at an Oktoberfest celebration? (This is near where I live, and I've seen it before..)

Yeah but what about bacon and eggs on pizza. I love bacon and eggs but not sure I want yolk running down my chin while I eat pizza
