What happened in the paint shop?

It’s a veneered strat, that black belly is to hide the veneer that comes front and back in those 90s strats.

I have a 95 with veneer and plays amazing, it’s my 2nd favourite guitar

I would refinish it and put it on straight or leave it off.

Okay, I would leave the cover off and paint it orange, then it would be an eye catcher.

What are the bodies like on the latest MIM guitars? I heard they are better but dont know. What is veneer and if they are veneer is that still real wood?

Funny you posted that, I had a veneer Mexican pawn shop strat at the time which inspired the question.

Here's a picture of some blanks at the factory.

The bodies are blockboard, hence the black infill.

I can get past the paint job, it’s that crooked back plate I can’t handle. I hope the routing is straighter.

Looks to me like an amateur’s attempt at a 2T burst. Spray it brown and then boat some black round tge edge.
