Josie, my Pixie-Bob tends to like hard, flat surfaces rather than comfy, cuddly, traditional cat beds. But lately she has decided to colonise my two amps. Sitting on them, sleeping on them. As you can see, they cannot be comfortable. What's going on?

My cats do the same thing with any square shaped objects. I feel like they don't discriminate. It's a plus if its warm!

Probably feels the heat from the tubes through the cab, the older they get the more they like the warmth.

That’s so cute....my cat used to sit atop my bass amp and slap her tail to the beat of whatever I was playing. She would do the same with my stereo speakers. She really liked Metallica. She wouldn’t sleep on them though.

No, she only does it when they're switched off and cold.

It could be the same reason cats sit on newspapers when you're trying to read them. They just like being irritating. :D

This isn't my cat, but I've tried this. They'll even sit in a box if said box is just tape on the floor. It works lol Ss75Vfa.jpg

Also theres a whole facebook page/website dedicated to cats on amps

Somehow Simon the Cat (2014-2015 RIP) managed to switch my 18-watt clone on whilst playing atop it. I don't know how many days or weeks it had been left on when I discovered it.

I'm still not quite done with the rebuild...

(and no the amplifier did not contribute to Simon's early demise)

Irritating is when she wakes me up at 4am to let her out to poo as she doesn't like the litter tray.

I don't play my instruments very often these days, and I bought an amp cover for my amp for this, among other reasons. ;) It also helps protect the amp from dust buildup.

Changing strings with the cat around is always fun too.
Mine ‘George’ likes to play keys while I’m in the studio. He loves people singing.

cats absorb the energy that the person who they love invests or has invested into other objects... such a read newspapers, favorite sweaters, amps, laptops, dog-eared copies of worsdworth, old socks...

the box thing is just weird-ass cat stuff.

Place underpants on bed. Turn around, wait a minute, turn back - cat is sat on underpants.
