Hello everybody, I am new here and this is my first post. I am happy finding you here, and I need your help. I want to buy a Fender Stratocaster, and this is my first guitar - that's way I have doubt. I found this: Fender Stratocaster HSS REPLICA | Musical Instruments | Gumtree Blacktown . I already call the seller and he was telling me is an original American Strat, and the serial no is: Z3059690. I have check the serial here: The Guitar Dater Project - Fender Serial Number Decoder , and it says is American Strat. ok. can someone to confirm the reality ? and what about "replica" ? what is that means? it worth the money? please, help me with an advice! thanks to everyone in advance!

Hi there, there's many factors to suggest its a fake. First, the price, it is to low to be a genuine american standard. Second, the quality of an american standard is very high, and to say in the description that the tone knobs don't work suggest it's fake. Thirdly, by looking at the headstock, the decal is positioned way off, there are 1 too many string trees, and the the string tree isn't the correct type. Finally, he doesn't show you the serial number; i would ask for more photos before buying, hopes this helps!

thanks for a quick answer! I'll ask for more photos! anyway, as long as I never touch a Strat, it would be complicated for me to decide.... the price is really less than MIM, that's why I have doubt. I was advice by someone do not buy MIM. The Standars one is more over my budget......

Replica is a nice way of saying "not real"

Buy mim. They are good guitars. A lot better than the one you listed.

Replica usually means "copy",so its a copy of a HSS Fender Strat. The neck isnt USA Fender [no dark ring around the truss rod insert and wrong string trees for a modern neck] You,d only know if its worth the money by checking it out in person

Not totally, it is more like reason over emotion.

If you want a "made in the USA" label, then USA-made is probably the best choice. But if you're looking for playability first, a modern Mexican strat is the most reasonable choice.

No, not if the MIM comes with the features you want.

    replica?

Well, a snide way to put it is:

If it doesn't cost much, it's a counterfeit guitar. If it costs ALOT, then it's a REPLICA!!

That guitar you posted has no dark-wood truss-rod-hole insert. I think the other people are right. The seller wrote "replica", when he really means "fake".

It is about budget for me. They're cheaper and pretty close in quality to the American standards. I don't want to pay double for something that is only marginally better.

Replica is a nice way to say "fake" and it's likely from the fake capital of the world, China, where Fender does NOT make any "American" guitars. It might be worth all of $75 (US). You would be better off buying a Squier than that POS.

The seller knows what it is and he's looking to pass the ripoff along to someone else. That guitar is not a Fender product. Headstock shape is off, too many string trees and of the wrong type, truss rod access lacks the walnut sleeve, wrong tuners, pickguard screw pattern doesn't match any Fender pattern...all the usual suspects.

Just run away and don't look back!

I was looking in eBay yesterday, and someone was selling fender headstock decals. It maddens me that people would do that.
