For me it's about learning more about the guitars. I never had much time for forums in the past, though I found some answers on them. And I have learned a lot since joining here. I don't really pay much attention to non guitar related threads, though this is one, but we can all take from it what we want, that's the beauty of it.

    First and foremost the humor.
    Second:
    Sometimes you wanna go
    Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You wanna be where you can see (ah-ah)
Our troubles are all the same (ah-ah)
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.

    What is Strat-Talk to you?

Good information, a great place to trade gear with like minded people, and annoying.

The annoying quality isn't necessarily this forum but forums in general. Some people seem to have strong opinions that they see as fact. There is no room for disagreement and an unwillingness to acknowledge a good point or that you may not know something. This part of culture is very frustrating and seems happy just to be nasty. Forums seem to attract people like this.

It’s probably from them not knowing the definition of a forum.
    Here’s one:
    An opportunity for open discussion.

I find the fact that some of the members are also beginners/novices makes me feel less alone. Also many of the experienced players are supportive and encouraging. It's ok to lack talent and just have fun.

I enjoy seeing other folks' gear and hearing about their experiences and learning about guitars and learning about theory. I even enjoy some of the other members. ;)

Strat Talk is my social media. I don't do Instabook or Facechat. I especially appreciate the "no politics" policy. I used to follow Twitter for sports, but politics crept in and took over. This place has been a slice of sanity.

Sanity? This place? Did I really just type that?

Here to ask questions, gain knowledge and share what I have learned about Strats. I come here for sharing and asking about Strats, specifically.

I have to admit that I have learned a ton since I came here. Ive laughed and argued with many here. There have been times when I have wished we could be meeting in person for support and encouragement and others when...well let's just say not so much.
All in all, I really like that we can hang out have fun and all enjoy doing the same thing (playing guitar) on our own levels and progressing while gleaning from, and teaching, each other.

It's one of the places I can go on the internet and see 20 pages of postings about a screw hole repair in wood. Also a place I go for really good belly laughs as I read the posts on said thread. :)

I really hope your wife enjoys this , my wife probably could care less . I go on this forum for entertainment and education , I have learned a lot and I am always eager to learn more about Stratocasters . However I find electronic communication very impersonal and unfulfilling . I am happy to get a text from one of my friends , but I would rather talk to them on the phone . Rather than talk on the phone I would prefer to talk face to face , but that is not always possible . As far as these forums go , I have seen many threads turn into two people flaming each other over differing opinions , I was on TDPRI before this forum and I saw at least two people who left the forum because of being attacked by stupid people , and these two members I speak of had a lot of knowledge on vintage guitars , but in the end the stupid people won . There are many threads I have been tempted to comment on , but I didn't , I figured who cares anyway . Who needs to be flamed over their opinion . I'm glad many of you feel so comfortable on Strattalk , for me it's mostly entertainment now . No offence guys , dig it while you can .

Do they DM you the photos, too, or am I the only one?

Admittedly, the monthly subscription is a bit pricey, but ...

I came for the Strats and stayed for the characters - of which there are many and varied.
