If you could only use one pickup on your SSS Strat for the rest of your life which would you chose?

What sold me to Strats is the neck pickup tone.I use the other 4 tones when applicable but the tone of the neck pickup is like home base for me on a Strat.

Same here but then I got my Eric Johnson Strat and the bridge pickup on it is amazing. I also like the #2 position with a bunch of gain and the tone control cranked back (on the bridge pickup).

If I wanted a guitar with only one pickup choice I'd play a LP Jr with a P90 not a Strat. There's no sense in owning a Strat if I can only choose one setting.

My favorite strat tone is neck with a little overdrive. Or is it?

    With a fuzz-face on: bridge
Playing Clapton-style blues with mild overdrive: middle
Playing the blues clean or lightly overdriven: normally neck
Playing rhythm with a Western swing band: neck
Playing lead with a Western swing band: middle or bridge
    (and on and on…)

Invalid poll: Leo put three in there for a reason ;D

I've only owned a "proper" strat for two months, so I haven't really "decided". Normally I'd say bridge no question, but with a new dedicated tone control, maybe mixed in with the middle pickup, it might change my answer eventually. I guess we'll see.

I always find myself returning to the bridge pickup.

By far the neck pickup for me love the mellow / glassy tones while soloing

Each pickup has it's own tone and purpose. I like having the 3 options to choose from depending on the music I am playing.

While the variety of sounds is one of my favorite things about a Strat, the middle pickup is where I spend most of my time. It just sits right. If I was the only guitar player in the band, maybe I’d use the neck more, but the middle pickup has the perfect amount of glassy chime, without being shrill or muddy.

You're right. Changing my vote. But, I have uses for all 7 positions. I even attempt to mimmick (or mangle) the old CCR tone with all three on.

The one you like, for the tone you want, for the song you're playing.
