Have had this beauty for a bit now, and guy that traded it to me said a dealer told him that it had a short run color, pretty scarce. I just can't for the life of me remember what he thought it was. It is a 2001-2002 Mexi Standard, I think, but the pickups look much better than the Std's I remember, but thats another thread, lol... Any help would be appreciated. My opinion is it is a Gunmetal Blue Metallic, but Fender says they only offered it in satin, strike one, and I think it is not green enough to be Sherwood Green, idk, any ideas?

Check for Agave Blue.....or even a faded Sage Green Metallic (sometimes looks Blue when it ages). Both were MIM colors from '02-'05.

I'm betting for a short run (FSR) color that's LPB... plus maybe a lot of UV exposure.

    Looks cool!

Obvious question is there a bar code sticker in the body with a paint code?

What is LPB? No barcode, ive seen some without. Neck pocket says July 19 2001, and is definately a Fender.

Maybe true, I read an older post that said the Lake Placid Blue's can darken to almost an ice blue, with a hint of green...Or is it too dark?

And I would think if it is changed tints, it would show a different tint under the pickguard, but maybe not, im truly stumped...

As Believer states above, "Lake Placid Blue" - one of Fender's most lovely colors, in my opinion.

And that certainly looks like genuine Fender MIM. It might have been a Sweetwater, or Guitar Center, etc., custom order for an exclusive limited run.

What do yo think about the pickups, or is it just an upgraded Strat. It has Fender locking tuners on it also???

What do you think about the electronics? Any way to ID the vintage style pickups, or did the MIM guitars start using these, over the old 2 bar magnet ones.

Those pickups look like an upgrade of sorts, but I don't recognize them.

'02 Agave Blue neck on a Gunmetal Blue body....never seen LPB age that type of Blue. In my case my LPB Tele really looks EXACTLY like Ocean Turquoise....and it's about 10yrs old.

Hit Fender Consumer Relations with a spec request. I'm curious as well.
