I use a KWM. Two of them, actually, and I couldn't be any happier with them. They are rather hard to come by now but I know where the is one for sale right now. The KWM is a part for part clone of the original including the unicorn pee soaked clipping diodes.
I also have a Grind Customs Chimera which is another really nice klone and a smaller footprint. Plus really hard to come across these days since they aren't made anymore either.

I forgot about the Soul Food. Bellerive it out not. You are correct, they don't sound like a Klon. But they can sound really good with a couple tweaks. I have a mod that adds a bass contour control and 4different clipping mods. I can also add a switch that can make it sound like an old MXR Blue Box.

That’s cool you can make it sound like a blue box! And yes a SF can definitely sound good but definitely not like a klon.

    RYRA Klone.
But I also use Hudson broadcast (the 'always on' pedal) and an xotic effects AC booster.

It depends on how I feel. but gain stacking sometimes occurs with the broadcast and AC. Sometimes the combination of all 3.
the klone by itself is enough to outgain the broadcast and the ac booster, but it is a different shape and I like each of them for their differences.

Anyone have any issues with some of these having buffers? I used to not give a hoot about that sort of thing. Then I started thinking about it. Maybe it's time to stop.

    The Sugar Drive is great.

Toe to toe with a Tumnus in a shotout the Sugar Drive came on top for me.

Have it on my board. The Saucy Box is great too.

I don’t have any issue with buffered pedals, and I never have. I have a mix of true bypass and buffered pedals, with most being buffered.

I’ve never noticed much of a difference myself, though maybe I could if I tried harder? I’m sure it’s just my tin ear, but in my situation true bypass seems like “a solution in search of a problem.”

Some people notice a difference, and some pedals might have terrible buffers and cause problems, but I don’t bother chasing solutions to other people’s problems, and since I don’t hear a big difference either way, I don’t spend any time worrying about it.

If you can DIY, I would highly recommend the Aion Electronics Refractor.

You can still find the Silver Pony in certain places. I highly recommend that one too.

I owned the Soul Food and although it sounded nice, it had some slight buzzy high treble that made it feel fizzy to me. I ended up selling that and splurging for the Tumnus Deluxe, which is awesome. Live the 3 band EQ as well. I'll be playing that tonight at a small gig for low OD and tone with a SS amp.

This is the first I heard of KWM. The only thing an internet search turned up was a bunch of other forum discussions, and some sales on Reverb from several years ago. Are they still around?

He doesn't build them anymore. I heard that a big part of it was that Finnegan made gave him so much grief and would try to scrub anything about them online because they were so closely built to the original...but like I said, that's what I heard. I also heard that he had issues dealing with customs for overseas shipping on top of the scrubbing issue. I got in touch with the builder and was able to get enough parts to build several to his exact spec even using the same pots minus the double 100k, which I used new old Allen-Bradly pots instead of CTS because I just didn't have the money to pay the insane prices for them.
If you're interested in checking one out pm me. I think I have enough to build one more and it's looking like I'll be having some spare time soon.

I found the soul food really bright and fizzy too. More like a distortion than an overdrive but I figured how to put a bass contour circuit into it and it really tamed it and made it more usable.

I'm not a fan of Centaurs but I think your safest bet is a Tumnus Deluxe. If you ever get a Soul Food be sure to get the JHS modded one. Absolutely. But the Tumnus is tenfold better. Obviously, IMHO.
