    Start here. Then go backwards.
And then forwards in their career. Joe taught me that "punk" wasn't a haircut. It was a willingness to do it your own way. The Clash wrote punk songs, reggae, dub, disco, funk, rockabily and on and on. It's the way they went about it. That was punk to me.

For a great introduction, These albums are full of awesome punk bands/song covers, seek out the originals for even more:

    Slayer - undisputed attitude
Guns and Roses - Spaghetti incident
    Metallica- Garage days revisited

Stranglers, GBH, Exploited, UK Subs, Angelic Upstarts. Generation X is a great band.
On the Canadian scene DGA, Viletones, Forgotten Rebels.

I lived thru the Original wave as a Long haired dyed in the wool Heavy Rock dude. My 2 buddies were way into punk...clothes, hair etc... I became well versed on the genre and remember fondly the Stranglers concert we went to. I kinda stood out....lol

We could debate if the following waves of “Punk” is or isn’t but that whole different topic....:)
