Was a drummer before age 20 and never had any interest at all in the guitar. None.
One day I was over at a friend's house and he picked up his accoustic and started playing the opening riff to Back in Black, the song of the moment at that time. It was like a lightbulb went on, I thought "that looks fun, I could do that", and had him show me.
All of a sudden I was obsessed with the guitar.

Learned, as in slowed down to copy? I think it was an Albert King riff from "Born Under A Bad Sign".

It has been decades. I would have to sit down and noodle it out again.

PS. This would make a good listing for RIFs you just have to know....

Well the Batman theme was played by Link Wray....in March 1966, listeners in Newport News, Virginia, took Link Wray’s version of the “Batman Theme” into the Top Five.

In my earliest days of playing before I learned chords and was banging away on a single string, I'm sure I fumbled with the Smoke on the Water riff. I'm not sure if that was the very first riff but if not it was up there. Iron Man and the intro bass line for Dazed and Confused are similarly up there.

Either Peter Gunn or Honky Tonk, not sure which came first. My guitar teacher had them tabbed out for the group class for the local community college and handed them out along with our copies of the Mel Bay beginner's book.

I don't remember what my first song was supposed to be, but I know what I played first was G, C & D. There were about a dozen "songs" I played that way, most of them likely wrong.

The first real riff-based songs I played would have been Day Tripper and Sunshine of Your Love.

Be My Lover - Alice Cooper Band. Easy, two major chords for the verse. The chorus was a bit tricky to learn when I was starting out. I was eleven. and doing this on an acoustic. Had been taking guitar lessons for a little over a year at that point.

The intro to a song called I've Had It by The Bell Notes. Learning it by ear convinced me I could actually do this thing. :)

Theme from 'The good, the bad & the ugly' by Ennio Morricone. I think 'Batman' by Neal Hefti was #2.

Intro and bass line to "Pipeline". I think the old Stella guitar that hung on a nail in the den would do it. The action was terrible...
