The first car that I personally owned was a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlas Supreme. Like this one...

I was nineteen when I got it.
The first vehicle I was ever licensed to drive in was a 1977 Chevy Luv stepside...

Except it was blue and I was sixteen.
the vehicle I learned to drive in when I was eight years old was a 1958 Ford F100 Stepside like this one.

My parent bought me a 1966 Pontiac GTO at the end of my sophomore year in college. They had me go outside to get a picture with a new chess set they bought for me, and then mentioned that I was standing in front of my new car. You could have knocked me over with a feather. With 389 cu. in. engine and a 4-barrel carburetor, it had great pickup when needed (and even when it wasn't needed ;)).

I haven't digitized my old photos yet, so here are some pics of an identical car:

Yes, they were!! I had two. When I bought the 1980 in 1993, I really wanted a 1981. I liked the body style a lot more than the previous model year. I just couldn't find one in decent shape around here until I came across the '80. I bought it for $450 and it needed a transmission. Had everything but reverse gear when I drove it home. A junk yard owner in my birth town owed my dad a favor so he sold me a 350 turbo for $85 and I took it home and did the swap.
A couple years later I finally found an '81 and bought it for $800 from a kid that lived about 5 minutes from where I worked which was about an hour from where I lived. Drove it home and the next week I changed the engine with the 1969 Olds 350 Rocket that I built and put in the '80 then scrapped the old car the quarter panels were rusting out pretty badly).
Of all the vehicles that I have owned the one I liked the most (other than my 2 R1s) was that 1981. I stupidly traded it in on a used truck and never should have. I just saw the big pretty 4x4 and went all "PURRRRDY!" and just had to have it. Looking back it was one of the dumbest transactions I EVER made. :thumbd: :thumbd:

My grandpa and I built a Volkswagen Baja out of three wrecked VW Beetles. It was yellow, tan and orange. He passed away before we could paint it and I never had the money to get it done. Actually lived in the car for several years, I was my own when I was 15 and there was not always a couch to crash on. I wish I had a picture of it. Eventually it broke down on the 435 and was impounded by the police. Daily fees made it impossible for me to get it out, it was a cool car for awhile.

1961 Triumph TR3, black with red interior. Took my first driving test in this one. No side windows, windshield comes off with a couple of bolts on each side. That hole in the bottom of the front grill is actually for a hand crank to start the engine if the battery is dead! Not the greatest car for an Iowa winter.
