Hard to carry 15 rolls of torch down rubber roofing in a mini- van .......Truck prices are stoopit nowadays. Minivan is the ticket nowadays.
Nice! We ended up getting a Tundra, the dealer screwed up the paint and we ended getting another Tundra.I finally bought that new truck I was shopping for when this thread started....

That truck must have been stolen. Chevy trucks were listed at damn near $3000 in 1971 and rarely left the lot for less that $2600.Crazy prices now days ,I remember in 1971 going with my Gramps and him paying $1500.00 cash for a new Chevy...
Suburban 2500 gas is the same engine in my 2500 avalanche. Same vehicle really except mine also has a bed instead of cargo area. 8.1 litres of gasoline power.I originally wanted a used Silverado/Sierra, but I've discovered that the Suburban is thousands less, has the same power plant, and rides/tows better because of the longer wheel base. It was an easy choice to make, so now I'm hunting one of those, but finding one with less than 200k is impossible. The hunt continues...
Its not just trucks, its cars, SUV, vans, etc.
Theres a reason for it, but it gets into Politics and brainstorms from Washington, which I believe is against forum rules to discuss.
But yea, theres a reason for the insane used vehicle pricing.
its got nothing to do with politics. Its supply, demand, the price of new vehicles, and the area you live in. trucks are hot all over the USA...very high demandIts not just trucks, its cars, SUV, vans, etc.

Plus fuel is really, really cheap today, adjusted for inflation.
I had to have a chuckle at that. If you were in UK you'd be saving up to buy a tank of fuel.. not buying a new truck..![]()
We have been needing a new rig for a while now (years). So looking at trucks has about Givin me a chronic wallet ache and bank account depletion syndrome. 45 k for used trucks holy moly.
Yup. The biggest truck engine Chevy offered in the 1960s was 5.3 L. That was the heavy-duty engine. You had a lot more options back then, so there was a wide range of horsepower, much of which overlapped with today's Silverado. But, to get that power of today's Silverados, you had to buy the biggest damned engine they made. The problem with trucks is that the expectations of truck buyers with regard to performance. They cost a lot now, because they are expected to be able to tow huge loads........while driving 85mph. Back in the day, you had to go slower when you were towing.
