Does that answer you're question?
Is the one with black pickups a Blackmore strat ?
NICE! thems the stuff of dreams. All three bolts?
No but it is the start point he had... nearly.
CIJ FSR '72 Reissue with Alder body and cloth wired Tex pups. Only structural difference is this is a slab board. Has Fender Japan tuners that look like the Schallers Ritchie modded his with and I added the '62 guard to complete the look of his favourite '74 after he modded it extensively with new look and pups etc (Schecter F500Ts) in '79.
Doesn't have the scalloped board (though it could of course) nor SD Qtr Pounders (but it will).
Only the CIJ and Natural Ash MIM are three bolt (it's a 70's Classic Series ...grabbed a nice one before the last of the line prevented choice).
The 4 bolt Affinity looks like a '66 (vintage tuners, bent stamped saddles, truss notch in guard etc) and the VM70 is a mutt with RW board , skunk and 4 bolts.
I don’t care...
Seems other folks do. That's why I thought I'd politely answer their questions.
Do you disapprove?
Just got all defensive (I'm a bit in love with both the 3 bolts so was really into writing my previous response) then KERRANG!, realised you were answering the OPs question! D'oh!
I think it's time to leave the keyboard and get out for a walk. Sorry 'bout that.
I like 50’s headstocks
60’s neck profiles
And 21st century elections
It's tricky to pinpoint an era for me, I like rosewood boards on 'V' shaped necks. See, my best chances are with Tokai rather than with a specific decade (Fender) Strat type, so I vote "60's+V"!
@SpeedKing no I think you were more than justified and thanks for the info , had a scalloped strat years ago great fun once you get used to not putting every note out of tune to start with lol
I like 50's and 60's, but wouldn't mind a late 60's maple cap big headstock non-bullet.
You should include the remining eras like the 80s up until the Fender handover, Late 90s to mid Oughts, mid Oughts to 2016, and present.
To me, if it had to be that old, it would be 60's I guess. Three tone burst color and rosewood.
In reality 2008, up until 2015? Before the CITES thing. Build quality and variety are awesome.
Nah.. they look funking awful and I Hate them..
Yeah... the best era was the late 80's early 90's Strat Plus series. That's my vote. Blows those crappy 70's out of the water.
For vintage stuff, '59-62 era rosewood slab board models.
For non-vintage, the Fullertons and higher end 60s style MIJ Fenders
from the 80s and 90s will do quite nicely. The same goes for Fernandes/Tokai.
No target/clownburst for me, though... i only like the ones where the red is subdued
&/or almost faded away entirely.
Anything with a 7 1/4 radius and vintage frets ... but as said previously a good strat is a good strat.... l could never differentiate by years, just my experience
I prefer my 2008 Fender American Standard. Good enough for me.
I voted 60s because I tend to prefer my strats with a rosewood board, but I’m really on the verge between 50s (white blonde… ah!) and 60s. For teles, it’s exactly the inverse.
