Well I bought a Boss DD200 delay with a Dual Delay setting, and Also a tape delay setting. I was hoping that I would be able to replace my Digitech Brian May Red Special Pedal, since I was only using the Dual Delay setting on it. The Brian May uses only two repeats and I’ve got the delay time maxed. One of the things I dislike about the Digitech BM pedal is that you can’t use the amp’s distortion. You have to go into the clean channel, and control the gain from the pedal to get a decent sounding distortion. It isn’t just that, but the built in treble booster is always on. Also, it sounds best in front of the amp and doesn’t sound good in the effects loop. I can get a similar sound using my Klon in front of my Boss DD200 delay, running through the effects loop. However, in order to get it to sound good, you have to back the gain off in the dirty channel on the amp. Also the repeats fade away a certain amount after the first repeat, and as this is controlled via a dial, you wind up with a couple of progressively lower volume repeats that fade to a whisper. However it does sound thicker, and after the second repeat you can’t hear the other echos as long as you are playing. So which do you all prefer? Brian May or Boss DD200?
