I like the tortoiseshell with that color, and with a rosewood board? Forget about it!
As of 3 days ago, I'm in the club. A 2010 mim. Always wanted an Olympic white strat.
I did that once. Wished I didn't after the fact. Bought another. Gearing ain't easy.
I've asked all my friends and family and tortoise shell wins out!
Now, I need a neck!
I just picked up this 2013 used American Standard last Friday with case and everything but toggle plastic and strap. I love it!
I pulled the trigger on this today:
I only need a few things and I can assemble it!
Since I want all nickel hardware, and I had a gold bridge, I took the bridge completely apart and got my Dremel with a stiff thick felt polishing disc and metal polish and went to town!
The saddles took the most time and I couldn't get into the super narrow crevasses, but I like the way it turned out!
Half the saddles done. You can really see the difference between the two colors here.
Saddles all done! You can still see a little gold where I couldn't get, but that's ok.
Saddles on the base that I did the exact same thing to. Brass Callaham trem block that a friend gave me a couple years ago. I thought I'd use it on this project.
All assembled again! I think it looks very nice. I do wish, though, that I had a small metal stamp that has my name. Then, I could stamp each side of the saddles, "FRANK". That would be a super neat personal touch. I wonder if I could have one made for a reasonable price?
Top view. Still a trace amount of gold in a spot or two, but you'd really have to be looking for it in order to spot it.
You're a very patient man! Congrats - that's a good job.
The neck arrived today. It came to me with a slight back bow to it. Now that I've got it flat, it will need a very minor fret leveling, crowning and my favorite thing of all, POLISHING!
I LOVE the feel of the neck on these. I had a 2013. Sold it, regretted it. Bought a 2016. Same glorious neck and fingerboard.
Leveled, crowned & polished!
As a Jimi fan, I go for white strats
Almost done! Messy kitchen counter!
I'm not a great guitar player, but I really like the way this one sounds!
I've posted this pic before, but here's my white and my blonde Strat. I love 'em!!!
What pickups? It sounds and looks phenomenal!!!
This looks great!!
