you should get one of those floyds designed for gibsons that just kinda pop on the studs sticking out of the body.

they are super stable and pretty great

of course you can always get a blech bigsby if you dont want to trim the strings for whatever reason.

The FRX Floyd is cool but I am looking for easy string change, ie not unlocking nut, no cutting ball end then locking in place.. Bigsby also cool but no fine tuners

Why not just a two-point trem, LSR roller nut, and staggered locking tuners?

    .

There's that new Suhr trem Pete Thorn was showing off a few months back. Locking saddles but otherwise similar to a Strat trem. Maybe they will sell just sets of saddles to players...

No need to cut the ball ends.

IMO fine tuners are kind of pointless without a locking nut.

I like the Super Vee idea, like I said, its going into a marauder body, I gotta make sure block will work with thickness of body but I like easy and having one of these old Jackson/Floyds with a graphite nut and top it off with waves locking tuners that cut string when tightend sounds about perfect to me, run string thru into tuners, tune to pitch and your done.....I have a couple of guitars with Floyds which are great when your done changing strings and are playing but if you bust a string with a floating Floyd no way to recover, if tremolo is set to only go flat you can make it through a song easy enuf but if you gotta change quick, it dont really happen too quick. This is a total project build so might as well get it to what exactly I want, thank you for all that answered, string thru type floyd or Super Vee, cheap $ probably means ebay used floyd...

I'm going to use a Floyd without fine tuners and locking tuners on the next build. The Floyd Rose is the most stable trem I've ever used. But most luthiers set them up wrong. I prefer to have real nut on my guitar, but if you can find a bill Edwards string clamp you don't need to unlock any screws. It operates with a finger lever. With this or a locking nut, you don't need a fine tuners.

If you are going to mod your guitar I would consider the original Ibanez Edge
