My favorites I have to say (not that I mean they are the best) :
    - John Frusciante
    - David Gilmour
    - Rory Gallagher
    - Mark Knopfler

    Probably in that order.
And you could remove « strat » from the question and I wouldn’t change my answer, which is why after I thought of myself as a LP guy and looked for a new one in the shop, and ended up preferring my time on strats I realize that I must be a strat guy just like my favorite guitarists :)

Early Jimmie Vaughan. The stuff he did with the T-Birds is a lot of fun, and I can keep up with most of it. He's mellowed with age, and his latter stuff is more jazz/swing, also good in my book.

SRV, Buddy Holly, Buddy Guy, Blackmore, Hendrix, Mick Mars sometimes uses a Strat.

The guys in Iron Maiden use Strat's mostly as well.

I don't really have one over anyone else.

For me its between Hendrix, Clapton and SRV.

My favorite Clapton years are his early years with Cream when he was still playing Gibsons...

Then there is Hendrix... who doesn't like Hendrix? When he was on he was amazing but there are some of his recorded live performances that just sound, well let's just say that some of them sound a bit off to me...

That leaves Stevie Ray Vaughn.... I've never heard him play anything that didn't wow me. I like the guitar work on some of his Hendrix covers better than the originals. His playing ability and tone is absolutely killer.. I think he could string a broom and make it sing... SRV is my favorite Stratocaster player....

I’ve only just realised that all my favourite guitarist are predominantly Strat players… SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Mayer, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Walter Trout.

SRV will always by my favourite though.

One of my personal favorites since I was a kid… definitely a big reason I wanted to pick up a sunburst strat with a maple fingerboard. That’s still my archetype for what a classic strat is.

Ritchie Valens’ music is still just a classic example of rock n roll.

It isn't the Strat that makes the man, it's the man that makes the Strat.

My personal favorite, over the years...that I know to have only played Strats (he might have played something else on occasion) is Robin Trower

    I need more qualifiers.

There's a lot of guys whose songwriting and or playing and or tone and or etc....

Some of my top guys would be considered best players by many I'm sure.

    So many greats listed already,!

Everybody. Wow doesn't everyone I've ever liked have a photo of them playing a strat??? I'm trying to think who I've seen without one.
