I’d prefer original 1964 pickups, but the V-mods are acceptable.

I'm pretty sure they are pickups. They use alnico something or other magnets, and probably sound as good as anything else on the market.

Sound is subjective. One man's good is another man's garbage.

Aren't they the stock pickups on current American Pro/Performer/Series/Standard or whatever they call them this time the price went up?

They have a slightly woody, round tone. :whistling:

    Considering an AmPro purchase?

I found the V-mods a bit shrill at first, but they warmed up nicely once I lowered them sufficiently and dialed them back down to about 7.

Are you sure? I thought it was more like English oak (Napoleonic period).

My current preferrence would be the Fat50's. Just a little more versatie than any of the Vmods that I have.

Not sure how I feel about them after having the lace golds take up all my time.

V Mods are the worst pickups that I’ve ever experienced. They suck IMHO. The only guitar I’ve ever used where I have to change EQ on my amp in the middle of a set. Needles to say I sold the guitar that had them promptly.
