Seven years ago Strats were my goto guitars. I joined StratTalk soon after attempting to buy a pre-CBS Strat. I backed out of that deal at the last moment because I just couldn't bring myself to hand over that much money for something that I really didn't know much about.

I haven't owned any sort of Strat for a couple of years now and I have no plans to buy another one but I still wander through here now and then.

Honestly, I joined to sell a guitar. I figured that the best place to sell a strat was to a bunch of strat enthusiasts. Unfortunately for me, the strategy I'd got wasn't what I thought, so I couldn't sell it in good faith. Fortunately for me, it plays sweet, so I've got a nice guitar, although admittedly it's been in a box with my others for a few years now.
Why I keep coming back is because of the weekly emails - I drop in when I see a topic that interests me, hang about for a while then disappear again.

I think I joined in 2011 with a shielding question. I stuck around because of the people here. I've learned a LOT here and thanks to this place I think i'm a much better mediocre player and can do more of my own maintenance on my guitars than i could before.

lots of folks have came and gone but a lot of the core members I remember from years ago are still here and that's awesome.

i'm creeping up to 10k useless posts and comments too LOL

It’s was my intense interest in drums that drew me to this place….

I’m a forum junkie and am a member on those that match the things in which I’m interested. I love Fender having owned a Duo Sonic from 1961 to ‘64, a Jaguar from 1965 to ‘66. And now my Strat Deluxe Plus since 1992. I mainly like the music parts of the forum and don’t need the general commentary and whining. I get that elsewhere.

I joined last year when I was contemplating modifying my Strat, but decided not to.

Here's a video. I actually had to go back some years to find something with the original configuration as I ended up replacing the stock Noiseless pickups (and pickguard) with a loaded pickguard with Lace Dually Gold pickups.

I think the Jeff Beck model was the extension of the Strat Plus as it had the LSR roller nut, locking tuners and Noiseless pickups (instead of Lace pickups on the plus). They were famous for their big chunky necks which on older models was even chunkier. Unfortunately I sold the guitar a few years ago as I was downsizing.

This is a good post let's see where it takes us. I joined because I'm a "Strat" nut and, I'm retired with too much time on my hands.

Well here I am 7 pages in, I won't read from the beginning as I suspect most of us are here for similar reasons, I have a lot of Strats, joined to see others, mix with like minded people, don't post much, comment occasionally, but learn a lot, and always good debate and advice, as well as some 'sic' humour.
    thanks All:)

I originally joined the forum after buying my first Fender Strat and getting back into guitar after a long break from it. I started doing some of the challenges and some collabs with @Mouse and others and figured this place would be a good outlet for that since I have no real desire to join a band or play out anymore. I enjoy a lot of the conversations here too; some of which I agree with, and some make me SMH, but its good to at least see other viewpoints from time to time.

In 2019 I decided I wanted to revisit strats after selling my previous one in 2005. So I built Sienna from parts to my own spec. Loved playing her.

however earlier this year I got the GAS for a Les Paul, and bought an Epiphone, followed by another a week later.

    I still play Sienna occasionally
