Why do I want a Tele when I only love Strats?

Please realize that I'm a Stratocaster admirer, not a serious player. I can play Jingle Bells with the best of them, but that's about it.

I just love the design, feel, and sound of my American Special and Player Strat.

But when I look at some of the great ROCK guitarists I see a lot of Telecasters.

So much so I'm thinking about laying down some cash to see WHY?

Please convince me a Tele is just a precursor to the Stratocaster and can never come close to one.

A Tele is the shizzle for sure. If I could only have one it would be a Tele

I love my Tele. I love my Strats, but a good Tele is too cool to pass up.

You can't be a real guitarist without owning both.

To be honest, my perfect strat is a hardtail with a humbucker in the bridge and a single coil in the neck.

My perfect tele is a vintage style bridge, steel saddles, CBS era tele bridge pickup and a strat neck pickup.
