Why give out tracking #’s?

Yeah I think they forgot about me. June 16th I sent them the cash. So 8 months almost to the day. It’s just a 2 piece ash pbass body in a blond finish, lightly aged. So nothing outrageous that would have stopped the process. View attachment 625862 View attachment 625863
It looks great, but jeez. I ordered a burgundy mist jazzmaster body from them about a month ago. I really hope it doesn’t take them that long, I was hoping to finish this build before June

Just bought a new (used) guitar on Reverb day before yesterday. About an hour later, seller sends a message saying it was dropped off at UPS and gives me a tracking number; should be here in a few days. I immediately got an email from UPS saying it has been "delayed due to the situation in Ukraine". It's coming from within my same state, just a couple hundred miles away from me. No updates since, and it doesn't look like it's left the UPS dropoff point yet.

Now you need a true relic pickguard. ;)

Oh man, I noticed your parts haul thread. I’d love to have that pickguard!! It’s been so long waiting on this body that I was able to order 2 custom Musikraft necks, a real deal colloid nitrate tort pickguard and a few different sets of pickups for this build. Hard to get a pic of the pickguard but it’s got that 3D look to it like the real ones. image.jpg image.jpg

The bass look I was going for is this one E9704273-C181-4B1A-AB68-D7C245F939D4.jpeg D5B3C280-0B0F-4652-B815-2D5A6034ECC5.jpeg

Kind of a funny update to my first world issue. So UPS website is now open for business. Closes on the weekends I guess. Anyway talked to a real person and they apologized several times. Informed me to go to the website and add a delivery note, which she said should work now.

So I see my tracking has been updated saying they attempted delivery but missed me? Well they didn’t as I stood like crazy person in the window from noon until I got the email at 5 saying rescheduled.

Anyway I go to “change delivery” so I can add a note and the driver should be able to see my note. Well it’s asking for the numbers off the attempted delivery slip which they leave when they actually attempt a delivery. I don’t have this slip because no one attempted anything. Just make crap up and now that blocks me from changing anything. I tell ya, this is the job to have. No one is accountable for anything!! So if a high school kid grabs this large box of my doorstep before I get home from work, it’s my fault for living across from a high school. I can probably leave work early but that’s me loosing money again. I already made arrangements and took Friday off. The lady did apologize though. 692CE888-CE19-454F-8D48-97DF3A6A2823.jpeg 079E7E0E-0BE0-4498-ADDA-5FE62F09CCD0.jpeg

Yeah and I’m realize my thread is kinda a bash at UPS and it’s not my intention to do that. I’m sure it’s not every single employee at any of the shipping companies out there.

However during those dark few years of covid, Amazon prime, UPS and FedEx were on it. I ordered so many things it was ridiculous but the shipping was fast and even ahead of schedule sometimes.

Now that it’s kind of sizzled out(dare I say that) but shipping is worse now? Amazon prime isn’t even next day or even 2 days anymore. It’s weeks away. So they went from rock stars to kind of “who cares, you’ll get your crap when you get it”.

As for getting it delivered to my work tomorrow I have to wait for a delivery attempt and then I can change the shipping address. Well schools back in tomorrow so hopefully when I get home from work at 5 or so my $800 guitar body will still be on the steps!!
Lol.

I ordered a pedal on Amazon on Tuesday. It went out yesterday and got here today, Thursday.

Amazon Prime is working fine. Their 1 day and 2 day delivery is still 1 or 2 days. I order from there at least once/week and haven't had any issues since Christmas. During Christmas, there was a week backup so when I ordered, it would take a week before it finally shipped and it still got here within the 1 or 2 days that it guarantees. Because that's all they guarantee: that once it ships, it'll get there in 1 or 2 days. Not that it gets there in 1 or 2 days from the time you make the order.

All carriers screw up at some point. My least reliable has been FedEx ground.

Amazon drivers have dropped off packages intended for a similar, but clearly different street addresses a few times. Called Amazon, they could care less. "Keep or donate the item".

This has happened to my brother so many times now. They always get it close enough, send a pic of the doorstep and click “delivered”. He drives around his neighborhood until he matches up the doorstep pic. Usually gets the item but lots of times he’s had to knock on doors and show proof that he ordered the item. Like who’s looking to keep a thermostat for a BMW? So weird.

For me on my Amazon app I could search say “high pressure valve stems”. Click prime and get next day or the day after. Now I can search that, no prime to click on and it will say Tuesday mar. 7th.

Still free shipping but nothing next day anymore for prime members. A massive Amazon warehouse is maybe 30 minutes from me. So maybe it’s different for your area? Prime next day, 2 day is nonexistent for me anymore.

I've had very few good experiences with UPS. Both UPS and FedEx have major hubs in the next town over from my hometown, and UPS has been consistently the worst, up to and including breaking a rare firearm I tracked down at great effort for my collection, dragging their feet for months on the shipping insurance claim, and then quietly revoking the claim and never paying it out. I won't use them for anything large or valuable like instruments.
