Your guitars are just beautiful particularly that Player Plus!
“I accidentally relic’d” NOW I get relic’ing.
A proper guitar should be made from treblewood
I'm not sure if anyone has made a guitar body out of pancakes, French toast, OR waffles. But I would go with waffles!
agree, treblewood has a much brighter tone
Irresponsible purchase, IMO. Easily avoidable.
I'd go with pancakes for an LP, french toast for a Tele and waffles for a Strat.
Man, I kept away from this thread for a couple of days and there were 49 unread posts? Mostly still talking basswood, some suggestions to work with the guitar and get it to my liking, and some pancake/french toast/waffling... Still, it seems a bit much!
@Zeekrider, stone fantastic looking guitars there! If I do keep this and start swapping out pups, I'm thinking just to replace the humbucker with a single coil, and to buy yet another pickguard, of course! I'm leaning towards keeping totally different to my Les Paul.
@SunDogAZ, Loving the look of that sunburst squier with the maple veneer...
I can also appreciate the black/white/cream look, in the same way that I can appreciate black/black/cream, but somehow it's not for me.
If I swap the humbucker and replace the plastics I might go for white plastics and parchment pickguard (Clapton style), or i might keep it Pinky, since that's what I've been calling the guitar.
Also @SunDogAZ, to your question of seeing if the body was swapped, well, unless Iron Maiden guy was a genius at replicating the impressions I left in the top, then it's the same body...
Anyway, for the actual update, I've been spending more time with Pinky, lowered the pickups and experimenting with Fuzz mainly using my modded Ibanez Tube King plus some compression to approximate a Fuzz Face sound. It's sounding great, though I wasn't actually unhappy with the sound personally (that was Iron Maiden guy).
I've also ordered a delay pedal; went for the Carbon Copy after listening to YouTube reviews. I'd usually try a pedal first but non-essential shops are closed and apparently that includes guitar shops.
I also emailed Fender about the tuner and to verify that the guitar is alder (which I don't actually doubt at this point). They passed me on to their Central Eastern Europe team so I've now emailed them too.
If I do follow this path, it seems I'd be playing a lot more rock/prog rock type stuff than I used to! Or at least I'd have a lovely setup for those times.
Please don't reply about basswood.
Well, regardless of whether you decide to stick with a Fender, you should stick around this forum.
We like good people with thick skin and a sense of humour.
That on is actually a MIM plus top body. But thx!
Glad to hear it!
I hate broccoli. Also cauliflower. And I can't stand kale!
Also, I HATE broccoli.
I do love me some spam though.
Not sure when you changed your avatar, but I just noticed lol
LOL, I've been changing it lately to amuse myself and maybe others.
Sometimes these threads take a life of thier own lol
here is my garbage performer. i hate black, it sounds like a cat in heat, tuning pegs grind like 2nd gear synchros, the g string buzzes like a beehive, i loaned it to my friend and while he had it the guitar stripped its own tremolo bar hole, and i suspect the worker who packed it in the california factory swapped in a fake - can’t trust anyone these days! i used it as a snowshovel last week to dig out my car, the neck was comfortable to hold but the weight of the snow dented the basswood! absolutely useless in every way. i’m gonna return it and get my money back - i have enough firewood in the basement don’t need any more.
Have your tried swapping pickups?
I figured since OP is apparently in Prague, I figured I'd be safe with the rest-of-world / non-US spelling! Hope you don't mind, neighbour.
....oh oh, I just contributed to adding another sub-subject to this whacky thread...
