A couple of my strats sometimes have an issue where a static noise is picked up when i strum and rub my palm on the plastic pickguard. This happens to me on almost every MIM strat or tele that I have purchased, not as much on USA models. One known trick is to rub a fabric softener on the pickguard. It works, but it’s temporary. And people don’t usually carry fabric softener around. I was playing the other night and the static was bugging me. So I rubbed my finger on my face to pick up some of my face oil (it had been a couple hours since I had washed my face), and I rubbed it all over the pickguard. It got rid of the static! I imagine it’s a similar principle at work as using a fabric softener. Just thought I’d pass it along in case anybody wants to try it. This trick is also handy for getting rid of excess foam when you get a bad poor of beer. Rub your face, rub it in the foam.
