Woul these pair up well with a Dimarzio Chopper?

Helllo everyone, new member here!

I have got a 2019 American Elite with Gen 4 noiseless pups, and love it, but like alot of people on here i struggle with the bridge.

I have bought myself both a Chopper and a Tone Zone S, i’m probably gonna try out the chopper first for a while.

But i’m also looking at a neck and middle pup, i was wondering if anyone could tell me if a couple of Area 67’s would pair up well in the neck and middle?, or even an Area 67 in the neck and a 58 in the middle?

I’ve read great things about the Area’s strat tone which im after, but wanted to double check the Chopper wont completely overwhelm them.

Also any other suggestions are welcomed too.

Welcome to the forum. Anything will “work” with anything, although you will have some volume difference to deal with.
Have you tried using a Rat or similar pedal to hammer the front end of your amp or are you trying to get something else from the Gen 4’s?

Well from the sound clips i have heard the Dimarzio’s Area’s sound better to my ears than the Gen 4’s, so just wanted to try them, i was also wondering if anyone knew the output differences? as i can’t seem to find the info for the Gen 4’s.

Haven’t tried the Rat yet, but thanks for the suggestion.

Cool, I have not tried the Gen 4's yet but I have the vintage and hot versions and would
say this may or may not help.

My Areas sound a lot like my Fender '57/62s only quiet...not that '57/62s are noisy

They are very stratty and probably pair well with a Chopper in the bridge

Strat dude - That’s interesting, for some reason i thought the vintage were hotter than the Gen 4’s! I’ve read that although on paper the Gen 4’s are hotter than the Dimarzio areas - the latter actually sound hotter due to the technology of the pickups, any idea if this is true?

Albala - That’s good to know, i love the sohnd clips of the Chopper but didn’t want it to possibly overpower the Area’s too much.

I’m in the UK and trying to get Dimarzio pickups is a nightmare, they are out of stock everywhere and it’s a 3 month wait from the HQ, i have an option to put in a black Chopper at the bridge, can anyone let me know if they think it will look ok against the aged white middle and neck pups in the pic below, thanks

If you don’t like the look of the black Chopper with your aged white pickups, you can always buy an aged white cover for your Chopper. This is just a sample link but you should be able to find a dealer closer to home.

Yes i’m struggling to source the covers in the UK too, but i’ll get some at some point i’d imagine.

I might actually buy the black one to have both colour options, and i just quickly coloured in the bridge pickup black on my iphone and it doesn’t look too bad, as i think the ebony neck balances it quite well -
