I’d only buy a handful of things. Otherwise, I’d just invest my money in whatever Warren Buffet is investing in.

I'd take my main partscaster strat and tele.. hop in the private jet my nephew pilots and fly out to Fender. Then I'd have them make exact copies of them in the custom shop.. I mean EXACT..

And I'd order a large pepperoni pizza.

I think if the budget was unlimited I'd be buying a lot of really expensive instruments from collectors and putting them in the hands of players who truly deserved them.

Whatever it is having an unlimited budget gets boring really quickly.

I buy gear in search of "the one". I haven't found it yet. So an unlimited budget would allow me to try a lot more a lot quicker. I'd maybe even succeed within my lifetime..

Nope. "The One" is a myth. It does not exist.

"The one" I bought was my Harley Benton. :D

I totally not averse to a cheap guitar, and not at all judging you or anyone else .. but .. **** China. I'm not supporting the demise of our own economy by buying their junk.

It was an accident as usual ..
A guitar I'd never normally look twice at. Then I set it up in an unusual way (put a really low break angle and a massive amount of neck relief in it) and suddenly it started to sound like "omg".

What does China have to do with my HB? I have no problems with the Chinese either.

Our economy doesn't need the Chinese to go down the toilet, we have our own sanitation engineers in Whitehall...

Well, @Thrup'ny Bit's and my Harley Benton's were both made in Indonesia, by company a based in South Korea, so now you have nothing to get upset about.

My Squier was made in China. If I'd known that owning it would upset Mr Wibble, I would have bought two...

Well, since all (and I do mean all) electronic equipment is now made in China, I guess Mr Wibble is connected to the internet by ESP.

On that we can agree. Fraud on a massive scale. :(

Re: HB and China I stand corrected. I can see that they are made in China, Indonesia and Vietnam.
I still don't buy that stuff. Not holier than thou just one of the few times I can make an informed decision not to support undercut-economies based on slave labour etc. It's probably not rational at all, but I consider companies like Thomann who use this asian slave labour to epitomise everything I hate about capitalism. I know the fact western wages won't support western manufacturing is not their fault and its supply and demand, but I can make a decision and it makes me feel a little bit better..

(and no I don't own an iPhone either)
