I'm sure its not all bad but a lot of it is. You know we had decades of progress in safety, PPE, pensions, working time directive etc, holiday pay, sick pay ..
There's a reason our manufacturing costs much more.

Like pretty much everything else.. like I said not preaching. That'd just be obnoxious. I have a house full of asian junk same as everyone else.
Its just when I have a choice whether to buy something non-essential, it makes me feel better not choosing cheap asian guitars. :D

In the seventies, you probably had a house full of British electrical junk. Then the Japanese rescued us, with reliable TVs, portable radios, cassettes and cameras...

I dunno but I'm more than willing to volunteer for any research study on the topic being conducted. Just gimme a day or two to make my list. :D

Ok I give up. I'm totally being irrational and dumb. Ignore me. I'm somewhat rage-filled against "China" right now. At some point that seems to have encompassed everything else and everyone else in Asia. Stepping away from my keyboard. :p

Just to correct a few slightly misdirected comments re interwebs electronics.

Not everything interwebs or semiconductor is made in PRC

In fact, I can state that of the US's fortune 100, 98 of them for certainty are not running PRC-manufactured internet network appliances.
Same goes globally for many Telco providers INCLUDING China Telecom and China mobile.... Sprint, AT&T, Verizon,Akamai,Amazon,Bharti,BT,DT,FT,Telefonica,KT,NTT,TM,STT,STC,TNZ,Telstra,Vodafone,Orange,Megaport,Google.... I could go on.

Not every chip is made in PRC. Plenty are made in Canada,Mexico, Korea,Malaysia,Singapore, even the US! can you believe it?

Many companies require supply chain assurance, which means even things like chipsets can be sourced from multiple vendors - even if those vendors do not hold the license to manufacture said chipset. In many cases agreements to manufacture are simply cost based, and not geolocation-strategic, but YES, lately a lot of that has changed due to the China issue.

It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of BS and propaganda that comes from Facist media and communist media influencers alike.

I would hope that people here validate their sources before going rogue on anti-anything or pro-anything and use the grey matter as it was intended before shooting off at the mouth....

Best of all, just leave it out of the threads entirely. It just makes people irritated, and those who comment look foolish.

Everyone makes mistakes and nobody is an exception to this rule.

But just because something is made in PRC doesn't mean the individual making it doesn't care about their work, doesn't care about their family. When you are living under a communist regime, the party controls you.

Just because you have your freedom, don't think people who live under duress of a regime do not wish for it.

It's not that long ago the Berlin wall came down.

If you don't know what life was like in eastern Europe before then, best bite your tongues.

Be critical of a regime and those who WILLINGLY support it. Don't put an entire population in the same basket.

Ask any Vietnam Veteran how they feel about the NVA and the people in the south.

It'd be nice if we could live without conflict, but humans aren't good at it.

Absolutely! My financial limitations are a big part of my history and I would, especially, seriously consider giving all my riches away rather than get involved in pedal GAS.

For me it would be buying the “best” gear and cables right up front for recording and rehearsals. Rather than taking 5 years to piece something together. Then in 3-5 years I would update as technology improved or as new gear which fit my need came out. I would also build an extension studio on the side of my house now instead of waiting for its value to increase so I could.borrow against said house to build.

I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch
He said to me, "you must not ask for so much"
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door
She cried to me, "hey, why not ask for more?"
Oh, like a bird on the wire
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.

The room I'm sitting in now contains 13 guitars. The adjoining room contains 8 guitars. There are 6 more downstairs. Every so often I look around and ask myself "Why do I do this?" But I still want...just one more.

No. Full stop. Anyone claiming the opposite is either lying or not in tune with their subconscious.

for sure i would get some more gear but i would not need to have an endless supply of gear money to scratch my itches.
