I have 11 guitars and 9 amplifiers some of which hasn’t been touched in years. I would like to spend some time with a Dumble though.
A bottomless pocket would have me collecting every guitar I ever wanted but chasing the newest/bestest yet...and other types of instruments/gear as well (mobile recording too). I could outfit a power trio or an orchestra or studio/stadium with the very best. To infinity and beyond!
I must say, regardless of what gear you have available, "wherever you go, there you are" If you believe having all the right gear is going to raise your skills as a player, I can assure you, it wont. People spend so much time talking about how to improve their sound, or what the latest technology has to offer. If people spent half of that time with their fingers on the fretboard, or developing their skills, gear, nor sound effect would make the slightest difference. Hands on the fretboard, first and foremost, thats the one thing your unable to buy, and perhaps the most important factor in developing your sound.
You're absolutely right, but I do find that playing a Tele vs. a Strat vs. a Jag vs. a 2 HB guitar does change my playing quite a bit. an improvement? maybe or maybe not.. depends on the listener, but it definitely does open up new sounds and avenues.
Im not all that heavy into gear and I live in a condo. So unlimited really wouldn't be that big of a deal. Im pretty well set guitar wise so probably a 335 and a EJ Strat would finish that off. I'd like to switch out 2 amps and get one more for reserve so unlimited would be pretty cheap in my case
I've got all the guitars and amps I want. I still shuffle the pack occasionally, but an unlimited budget wouldn't increase the number or quality. But a Steinway concert grand, original B3, Wurlitzer and a Rhodes and the space to keep them would be my use of a fantasy deep budget.
JB74 almost got this spot on. Unlimited budget to sponsor all the people in the world who want to make music. Nothing boring about that.
If I had a unlimited budget I’d give making music for a living and go on vacation. I already have owned every guitar I could have ever wanted several times over and currently own over 300 guitars. About 40 of those live in my studio and the rest are my inventory.
I think this Goofy topic and the ever increasingly stupid NOT ABOUT STRATS topics to be incredibly BORING. Get a life people.
