He may not but that’s what comes in his signature model

Clapton ran out of new musical ideas about thirty years ago. I wish his pickupswere not merely "noiseless" but "soundless" as well.

I don't think he ever had a musical idea. If he did, his pickups missed it...

He borrowed a number of them, typically without attribution.

I think he at least gave credit for what he directly covered, unlike another band from that era that went over like a led balloon with me. I'm OK with him using what comes from the masters... we're all derivative. BUT, he stopped producing stuff I personally liked back around 1972.

Every guitarist has been borrowing off others since someone strummed the first g chord.

He's been using some version of noiseless pickups since about the 80s, I think. The first he had were Lace sensors, I believe.
After that, he think he just uses what Fender happens to put into his signature model, and leaves it at that.

Regardless, I'd say a big part of his guitar's sound these past years hasn't been the pickups, but the active mid boost circuit.

I'm not sure why it's such a surprise.
The EC signature models carried the Lace Sensors, and have carried whatever Fender has been using for "Noiseless" ever since.

Absolutely right. I certainly do. Some though, are more creative in the way they respond to influences, and I respect those who dig deep into any genre; but Clapton, after a while, settled for rote mimicry, which is a betrayal of his influences and a bore to boot.

I'm sure he's reading your criticisms, and, as Liberace once said "crying all the way to the bank".

The guy has a recording career spanning seven DECADES. Some "successful" artists can measure their careers in seven MONTHS.

And the rest of us spend our time noodling in bars and bedrooms and come on here to share our vast expertise on how Eric Clapton is doing it wrong.

IMG_3081.jpg Most have no idea how to use the Noiseless pups in the EC's.....Thats the biggest problem. They're amazing. Then again, the generation that cant figure them out had to be told not to eat laundry pods. And yes. EC uses Vintage Noiseless in all of his strats.

Everyone knows laundry pods are to be boofed for best results. This generation doesn't have a clue.:thumb:

Noiseless pickups = no noise Ultra noiseless pickups = more no noise than no noise. How does that work? Can nothing from nothing = more nothing?
