That's what I thought too. '60s Jazz Bass neck on a Strat.

Block inlays are kinda popular again but IMHO think they look outta place on Fender Teles and Strats.

The only problem I have with that guitar is the humbucker in the bridge ha.
Although it’s a shame it’s not got a strat headstock.

my next partscaster is aiming for this

Although undecided if I’m gonna go big or go home with the headstock

Some of the older JMs had block inlay and binding. A couple of decades ago Fender had a Big Block series of MIM Strats with giant 70s Jazz Bass style block inlay. Most of those had black bodies and possibly black necks.

I’ve always thought jazzmasters look classiest with DOTS and binding, jaguars look classiest with blocks and binding and teles look classiest with a bound body and dot inlays.

Fender I believe did do some bound and block inlayed strats in 1965/66, I’m pretty sure the picture I posted above is an actual one. I personally love it, although am not a huge fan of the CBS headstock.

I think the headstock on the guitar the OP has issue with had a jazzmaster headstock which looks odd.

See Gibson have done it the different way round, EVERYTHING of theirs (obviously not actually everything) has blocks and binding, so any guitars they make that don’t have it look a bit naff...
please no one cyber attack me, I mean no disrespect to any Gibsons

fender on the other hand almost everything they make DOESNT have blocks and binding, so when they do it just looks so damn good.

you should’ve done a poll haha. Although judging by the replies so far you may have been a minority...

While we're at it, let's hang one of those red-pine-tree car deodorizers off the headstock. That would be cool!!!!

The two-tone white humbucker is a bridge pickup too far IMO....
