Not a big fan of him, however this one looks so awkward that caught my interest.
The headstock is, cool. Seen there is a budget MIM version (out of production) of John 5's signature.

I would get one if I had the chance. J5.jpg

based on the humbucker in the bridge, and the headstock, it's an instant no, unless it were crazy cheap.

Heck, I don't mind it. I don't even think the headstock looks that bad.

As for the bridge HB, I'd rather have one there than in the neck of a Tele.

What is the offical excuse for the headstock?
How does something like this come into existence in the first place?

It looks like a stupid design, but if it was cheap I'd give it a shot.

Seems like the dude was a big fan of the vintage Fender Maverick, so they made one resembling it.

He is a big Tele fan, I saw the dude has a big collection:

even in his album covers, he mostly has the regular headstock.. not sure who thought it was a cool idea, TBH. It is unique, I'll say that.

He probably wanted a Tele that had "equal-ish" tension on each string, thus the Gibson-like tuner configuration.

Maybe if it were a 12 string.

John 5 occasionally reaches up there and does unmentionable things with the strings past the nut. He is a monster player. I wouldn't get one of those guitars but I really appreciate his talent and respect for the Telecaster tradition.

If I get one, I'd feel embarrassed to share a NGD post.
