I'm not sure buying them is a crime though ..... Granted it'd be mighty interesting to read his ads when he moves them on...

 

They are illegal to import, but I've never heard of Customs going after the buyers. They just seize the shipment and the buyer is left holding the bag if the seller doesn't replace it.
They often get around it on Gibsons by painting over the headstock logo with black paint that is easily removed.

In some states, such as Illinois, mere possession is a felony.

I get that. I was just pointing out that there are easier guitars to fake for similar profits. But I supposed there are niche markets. If I saw that scalloped fretboard my first thought wouldn’t be wondering if it’s fake. I guess that makes it profitable.
