I've got a short pinkie, and in fact small hands for my 6ft size, but I guess I developed my playing style (over 50 years) to accommodate these disadvantages. I sometimes wonder how much better I could have been if I had had bigger hands, but there you go...

... And "talk to the hand" just doesn't have the same impact unless Pinky is involved!

I’m rolling laughing at the idea that someone felt obligated to pause MNF so that could snap a pic of Ed’s pinky fingers for a guitar forum post. :)
    Thanks for that

That's the thing. I'm SO not Django. I need all the help I can get. Thumbs, pinkies and everything in between.

Same issue here. But my combo is large, thick palms and thick, shorter fingers.

EX. When I play stuff like Chuck Berry style with a 5th fret barre A7 and Mr. Pinky is supposed to reach up and play the 9th then 10th frets on the 5th string... well the 10th ain't happening. I have to find alternatives that aren't always the right sound.

I'm jealous of guys like Chuck and Keef (and many other greats) who have long slender fingers with thin hands. They don't even blink at doing this stuff down low with a G barre or even down at an F. Or they play some of those funky other jazzy chords that span four strings and four frets with four fingers. Nope.

LOL, I taught myself the guitar, without much help at all. My cowboy D chord is formed with my pinky, ring and middle...and I've had people come up and say, "WTF! How do you do that?" "I dunno, I just do..."

Playing 1890s banjo tunes, the A on the 1st string, 7th fret is such a common 'stab' note that I can often do it without looking. My pinkie has eyes...

My pinkie is useless. Nerve damage. So unless I am doing at least a partial barre, I'm a triad guy. Then again, I could always learn slide.

I thought I use my pinky all the time. After watching some practice videos, I use it less than I thought.

I have Mr. A in my left hand pinky. It's permanently bent. It happened gradually, after years of playing guitar and also hitting the A, S, and Shift keys on keyboards. I can use it, but not very efficiently.

Use the left one all the time, but never the right one. I never really found a use for it enough to work on it.
But I played with a bass player back in the 80s who used all 4 fingers of his right hand, so it certainly is something you can teach yourself to do.
