It's different, that's for sure.
Not my style but to each their own.
Absolutely love that, dude!
I've had my eye on this but it is a Japan only release and it's hard to find any info on it.
That’s a beauty. My mother in law was from Japan. They had a bunch of similar themed artwork in their house. She would have loved that, if only to hang on the wall to look at.
That's beautiful work. I do wish I could figure out how to put the final clear layers on a git without having to use pro equipment, avoid drips etc. I've always defaulted to Satin finish, because I can spray it light in several coats and it turns out fine. But getting a crystal clear thick finish like off-the-shelf. I'm sure there are tricks to that... which don't require hundreds of dollars worth of equipment. ; )
Sounds like the same thing they do at Texas Toast Guitars for their fabric top guitars. They've made some really nice ones. Last one I saw was an Yngwie Strat done with some flowery fabric and a black burst. It looked really good. Another had skulls and roses, which I thought looked even better than the Yngwie when it was done. Pics below:
I do it on my builds with high gloss Duplicolor clear lacquer. But I also do all of my paint work with Duplicolor automotive paints. Spray in layers and after about 4 or 5 light coats wet sand with 1000 grit. A couple more layers wet sand with 1200 to 15000then 2000, rubbing compound, then wax with cleaner wax then carnuba wax. Smooth as glass. This was done with rattle cans.
Not to hijack though.

What’s it got for pickups? Is it Alder or Basswood? Nice ride
Interested in selling that?
It's Basswood. There was a sister-guitar (also ST62-SPL, see original pic from FJ Site at bottom) from the same year, with different artwork. Looks like this:
Honestly, I LOVE the one the OP got. Imagine having BOTH though, lol
Love that floral strat. Would love to rock that .
Love that style. Here's my Kimono-caster:
I really wanted that dragon guitar when it came out (I am a dragon) but I had no luck getting one of those.
Congrats and enjoy!
Life is good,
I too, am not a fan of graphics, but this is truly a work of art. The detail on the back is amazing. You truly have a Gem there. What do you suppose that is worth!? Congrats on your find!
Beautiful. The first scratch or ding will be a heartbreaker.
