    I have been using an MXR Custom Harass 78 distortion along with a Caline Big Orange and find it has just the right amount of bite and crunch. When I add fuzz I use a Pharoah by Black Arts Toneworks.

    Anyone who hears Gary Moore's "Corridors of Power" album and doesn't get a Boss DS-1 and a Strat is

    a) deaf,
    b) lying, or
    c) dead

    My choice is... complicated.

    I like lots of different dirt sounds, so locking into one would get boring quick.
    The way my current rig is set up I have a clean loop (TC Hypergravity,) and dirty rhythm loop and a dirty lead loop.

    In each dirt loop I have a low gain, a mid gain and a high gain:
    Rhythm:
    Low=Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret in Super Bass mode
    Mid=Catalinbread Galileo Mk1 (Vox + Treble Booster)
    High=C'bread Dirty Little Secret in Super Lead mode
    Lead:
    Low= BK Butler Tube Driver
    Mid= JHS @ Andy Timmons Drive
    High= C'bread Manx Loahghtan (Muff fuzz with active high and low EQ.)

    Add to this some Boosters - a Mythical Overdrive Klone and an Xotic Timmons BB Preamp, and finally, a second Manx eq'd to sound like a silicon Fuzz Face.

    I owuld like to acknowledge that the Danelecto Daddy-O is one HELL of a cheap but good pedal. You can do most everything you want with it, depending of course on the guitar and amp.

    I own one of the old ones and for years I couldn't leave it out of my chain. Only did when I got the RAT, but it's still a tough contest

    I do like my TS9.

    Right now, however, I'm parked on the Pettyjohn Iron.

    My always on (well, almost always): Catalinbread Formula 5F6. Really voices my Bugera V55 like a Fender Bassman. It's awesome.
    My light dirt: Caline Pure Sky (people say it's Timmy-ish). Sparkly, transparent, really lets the Strat tone shine through
    Heavier dirt: still working on it. Have a Wampler Sovereign but looking into maybe an OCD or a Plimsoul instead.

    I don't get too technical I've owned several high dollar dirt boxes but always comeback to something simple and affordable, right now a boss sd-1 battery powered only is doing the trick in the past I have used a DS-1, TS9, BD-2, bad monkey and TS 808, all great and I might switch the sd-1 for any of those at anytime depending on the gig or my mood...

    I've had everything, but lately a Sugar Drive. But mainly have been playing through a Pocket POD, on a Vox amp...

    I have a 2016 Zen and have experienced the same. With a tweed it was awful, with a Princeton and a Marshall it’s sublime.
