Zooey Deschanel playing a Gibson Hummingbird

This photo from the 2007 film Bridge To Terabithia shows Zooey Deschanel playing a sunburst Gibson Hummingbird. While Zooey Deschanel is more well known as an actress, thanks to her appearances in the film Elf and in the TV sitcom New Girl, Zooey Deschanel is also a pretty decent guitarist. She also plays the banjo and piano and ukulele, but I bet you didn't know that.

The whereabouts of this Gibson Hummingbird are unknown, though half the time most of these guitars are used as movie props, so it's very likely that Zooey never owned a Gibson Hummingbird and that it was rented for the movie. However, Michelle Branch plays a Gibson Hummingbird on a lot of her songs, and I think she did a decent job playing a Gibson Hummingbird.

Zooey also played a Danelectro guitar at one point, which either she owns or it was likely rented or borrowed.

The lovely Miss Deschanel is a very talented singer and plays a few instruments. Her musical career takes a back seat to her acting career, but she’s pretty active on that front, too.

She also has a duo/group with Joseph Gordon-Levitt called “She & Him”…he’s pretty talented, too.

Even if she had no talent, I’d turn off the sound and watch her play.

I got turned on to her singng when she sang "Baby It's Cold Outside" in "Elf". She does acting and music, which is cool. She's also the sister of the actress who plays "Bones" in the television series.
