OK so I'm about to bring this bad boy home, 40 watts but master volume says I can keep my neighbors and myself happy. Any input?

That’s quite a handful. Too loud for my house but I don’t know what you consider a reasonable volume. I’m sure you could get it pretty quiet but its going to be on .5 or something

That's certainly not talking me out of it. Can you get decent bedroom tone by keeping the master volume down?
yep, I leave the master volume at around 3 and keep my guitar volume down when I want bedroom volumes and guitar up when I want to get a little obnoxious

now I won't say it's not better when it's cranked a bit more- it is- but it still sounds great at lower volumes

I had an Ampeg V4 stack in my bedroom when I was 17. The old neighborhood is still vibrating. I'm tired of 5 watt tube amps with tiny speakers. Have a Yamaha thr 10, good tones but it's like playing through a transistor radio.

In a sense this is better suited for home use than even a 5 or 15 watt.

More headroom so you can bring up volume without breaking up and keeping a steady volume taper.

Um you can always get an aftermarket attounator for 200-300$ for a good one. Jet city makes one

Maybe 150$ for an affordable one or used

Should sound great at lower volume....i say put a movie on and bust it up as if you were watching it with the fam....match that volume for home use when you can get away with it. Normal volume at 20-30 decibles should still sound great as these amps are more for the preamp and less about the power amp.

And I could always keep it clean and use an OCD in front of it...man I want this amp
Yup yup....

A Klon Clone like the Way Huge Saucy Box or EHX soulfood would make this amp really come alive aside from the OCD.

These are affordable ranging from 70 for the EHX bucks to 130$ for the Way Huge.

Klones are very very transparent.

Come on Yellowbeard turn it down, I can hear you all the way up here...

Really though - Go for it, your neighbors aren't always home!
I sometimes play my super reverb when my neighbors are out.

Back in the day I would have said screw the neighbors. Now I'm just a big old friendly not wanting a hassle guy with yen for some Marshall crunch. Honestly I just want the crunch.

one thing to be aware of is there is a significant volume difference in the green channel when you go from clean to crunch- it's not an issue for me because I live in the crunch mode anyway but if you plan to use both equally, it could be an issue

you can switch from crunch to OD1 without an issue because each channel has it's own volume and gain controls
