In a sense this is better suited for home use than even a 5 or 15 watt.

More headroom so you can bring up volume without breaking up and keeping a steady volume taper.

Um you can always get an aftermarket attounator for 200-300$ for a good one. Jet city makes one

Maybe 150$ for an affordable one or used

Should sound great at lower volume....i say put a movie on and bust it up as if you were watching it with the fam....match that volume for home use when you can get away with it. Normal volume at 20-30 decibles should still sound great as these amps are more for the preamp and less about the power amp.

I have been looking into the two notes torpedo captor. Looks like a nice little box for the price

one thing to be aware of is there is a significant volume difference in the green channel when you go from clean to crunch- it's not an issue for me because I live in the crunch mode anyway but if you plan to use both equally, it could be an issue

you can switch from crunch to OD1 without an issue because each channel has it's own volume and gain controls

Thanks. I could see myself in crunch mode 90% of the time anyway.

This aint the same....it affects output and will affect the tone.

Atenoutor or maybe some other way I dont know.

The master volume on these is great though....flawless taper

Appreciate the input, but in my thinking merely limiting the volume in any way will affect the tone. An amp that's meant to be cranked is going to lose something by playing it reined in. But I take your word on the master volume taper probably being the ticket.

Yeah I know what you mean and this is true if you are using the Volume knob..much different than the master volume....

The Master Volume contols the power amp amplification and break up...the volume shapes the sound and output at the front end.....so while you do bring the volume down with a master volume knob...the tonestack stays the same but at a lower volume granted not pushing the power tubes for the sweet spot but essentially the preamp tone at lower volumes...

The volume pedal will essentually be like a volume knob on your guitar you control with your feet....

Affecting output not volume and again drastically affecting the tone.

Dont take my word for it

I'm probably going to buy it anyway. At the price point it's a better deal than the 20 or 5 watt both of which have a different preamp stage completely.

Dope set up.

Thanks. The cabinet is just an amp stand. I do have neighbors under me after all. This is my 40 watt amp so if I do run the cab with it i've got to kind of push it hard to really make the cabinet be of any use. There's a 20 watt amp and a couple guitars in the living room. The cab works better on that amp at lower volumes but it's too big for the living room so it just sits here

Umm, I thought the revelation with the DSL40 CR is the built-in power reduction wizardry?
Isn't this the amp that can be turned from 40 watts to 10 and then 0.5?
Can you not get enough gain at low volumes on 0.5 watts?
Why would you need an attenuator with an amp like that?
May as well get a plexi stack!
I'm interested in these new DSL's. Please inform us on how they perform on 0.5 w.
