I have 3 fuzz faces, the standard JDF2, the JHF1, and the Band of Gypsys Fuzz Face, and you know what, the JDF2 and the Hendrix FF's sound very lame compared to the BOG.

It is a very high gain fuzz (way higher than any of the other FF's dunlop makes), but it's not harsh, and it's still very fat. It's really just a simplified and stripped down Octavio, and that's exactly what Roger Mayer did when he built the first "Axis" fuzz for Hendrix. Also, you can run a wah in front of it, and use the wah and fuzz together and get the full sweep of the wah. No other fuzz face from Dunlop does that.

Yeah, the BOG does look pretty sweet - it may be something that once they've been out a while and start showing up used I can pick up...

There is one on ebay for 105. Just saying.

Speaking of BOG fuzz, anybody tried this?

Haven't tried it but I sure have seen that video. I just saw this picture from Wooddtock and you can clearly see the FF with the white knobs in it. So is that the BOG at Woodstock also? I might get a BOG for the collection but my best BOG fuzz is a Fillmore Thunder. It's darn near perfect for that sound. It does the fuzz and the Octavia sounds. Here is some clips I made.

No, from what your saying it seems you only have 2 Fuzz Faces.

I agree the JDF2 I dont like and I have not tried the JHF1 but you cant compare out of 3 fuzz faces and say you like the BOG best because the BOG is not a Fuzz Face its an octave fuzz without the octave part but its no Fuzz Face....BOG is pretty much a copy of the the Axis Fuzz Roger Mayer made but I bet Roger Mayers is much better....Just sayin....

Point is you cant compare your Fuzz Faces to the BOG/Axis Fuzz derivatives because its not even like comparing apples to apples or...... apples and oranges, at least they are both fruit, this is more like apples and tree's or oranges and cherry blossoms, staples and caterpillars, hardly any connection between one another . Comparing a BOG fuzz to a Fuzz Face is not objective, they are drastically different from each other as a FF and a Big Muff are drastically different from one another or a DS-1 and a Tubescreamer.

If you like the BOG best maybe you just dont like Fuzz Faces to be honest, and thats alright too.
