Hey guys,

Well, i am the proud owner of several american strats of various pickup combinations and years. About a year ago i bought the 06 upgrade of the highway 1 strat because i wanted the nitro body. Anyways, long story short....the skunk stripe is seperating from the back of the neck at the rounded edge closest to the headstock. Its not coming off that bad, but i can feel it when i play and i can see dirt that gets trapped in the gap. This flaw is driving me absolutely crazy! ive never had a problem with fender quality before and i dont have the reciept, but i am the original owner. The shop i bought it from wont do anything without that reciept....is there anything you guys can reccomend?

Thanks!!!!

The shop you bought it from doesn't have a record of the sale????

Did you use a credit card to make the purchase? If so, they can provide a receipt.

Call Fender Customer Service. They can force the dealer to take care of the product.

Thanks for the info my friend!

Pretty much as you said, a phone call from a fender agent pretty much changed this shopkeeps mind!!!
This is above and beyond customer service and I couldnt be happier with my brand of choice!
Tom Lee Music offered me a completely new guitar, but being the pain in the ass I am, I requested a new neck off of an existing 60th anniversary they had!

Now for the 100's of hours of breking in i have to complete!

Thank you again!

Put some Tightbond II in there clamp or tape it down, then sand it smooth.
Start with 80 grit sand paper then go to 100 grit then 250 grit then finaly use some wet dry 400 or 600 grit with some fret board conditioner.

My Relic came from the custom shop with a sanded neck (to simulate years of wear and tear) but it was not very smooth.

So I wet sanded it with 400 grit after soaking it with my PRS fretboard conditioner. It feels so sweet now you cant imagine it!

* the reason behind wet sanding is that it stands up the fibers of the wood
